FAQ

Do you have a family room?

Both our rooms are large enough to site a temporary inflatable double bed. We can, with notice, arrange this and negotiate a rate for the additional guests.

What are the breakfast arrangements?

Our breakfast room is set up in our dining room. We have a large table capable of seating 6 people. We encourage guests to eat together and we will make the introductions. Bed and breakfasting is a more sociable experience being in a private house. Many friendships have been made this way. We can serve breakfast between 0700-0830hrs.

Do you accept credit or debit cards?

We are too small a business to make this viable. We want to keep costs as low as possible for our quests. We use PayPal for international deposits - there are additional fees associated with this.

What services can you provide?

Clothes drying, large shed for cycle storage and maintenance, clothes washing for a small fee, pack lunches, we have a small gym in our byre (large out-building), document printing.

What's your deposit policy?

A deposit of one nights tariff per room is required to confirm all bookings. Deposits are required within 7 days of booking your stay. If the deposit is not received we are afraid we have to make the room available again.

What's your cancellation policy?

Inform us as soon as possible if you are unable to stay with us. Deposits are non-refundable if we are unable to re-sell your room. We recommend you have travel insurance even if you are a UK resident travelling within the UK. These policies are normally less than £20 for the duration of your break away.

What is a Bed and Breakfast?

Sites like Trip Advisor will describe Bed and Breakfasts as Hotels although they are very different to Hotels. The main difference is that you will be staying in our home making the experience more informal and sociable than staying in a hotel or large guest house. You benefit for us knowing the area and our desire to make sure you make the most of your holiday. Our home is not a modern purpose built B&B but has history and character. We run Lighthouse Cottage and do all the work ourselves.

What are check in and check out times?

Check out by 0930hrs and check in before 1800hrs please unless agreed in advance. A late check in  is available and is after 2200hrs - this attracts an extra fee of £20 and you will be advised of this at booking.
